tl;dr version: The innkeepers hate wedding parties. And more likely, people in general. And probably hate fresh breakfast. Sometimes you don't get to choose where you stay. That's how I ended up at the Greystone Manor Bed & Breakfast. This was the "group hotel of choice" for a wedding I was attending. I only stayed one night but it was an incredibly frustrating stay. As one reviewer said, they are charging Cadillac prices, but unfortunately giving you the Ford Pinto! THE "BED" The grounds here are appealing - have to give them that. My room was on the third floor. The only television channel that that worked on the TV was Latin Pop Music Choice (really... no joke). The extra pillows didn't have pillow cases on them. There were not enough towels. Only one window had the ability to be open (Goodbye cross breeze!). Other than that, the room (which did have a painting of a girl with a "Bird In Hand!") was slightly below average. Also - self-explanatory nugget of information - 1-PLY toilet paper! THE "BREAKFAST" Breakfast is only from 8-9AM. Don't be late. Really. There won't be anything for you to eat. I've had a better breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express' continental breakfast station... and they don't even claim to be breakfast experts! The fruits and pastries were very sad looking and definitely frozen / thawed and/or from your local grocery store discount section. The "day's special" was challah French toast with strawberries. (With frozen, gross strawberries and strawberry sauce topping) THE BEYOND We arrived back at the Manor around 11:30PM from the wedding. We were obviously awake and ready to celebrate with the newlyweds. Throughout the night, both the husband and wife (owners), individually came out and asked us to be quieter. The wife was certainly more abrupt about it. At least the husband directed us to another area that would be less disturbing to the people around us. We got to bed late, but were still up in time for morning breakfast (see note above)! SIDE NOTE I didn't base my review on this, but I wanted to add a "buyer beware" aspect. When other guests checked in from this same wedding, they were subject to extra fees, and 2-night stay minimums that were never communicated - in some cases charging them a few hundred dollars more than originally intended. Whatever you do - get your confirmation in writing! Needless to say, the bride and groom were very disappointed with the service provided to our group here.

We bought a Certifikid deal for 2 nights that came with a hot breakfast, a 2 room suite that was supposed to be comfortable for a family of 3 adults and a toddler and a gift basket with local delicacies. The beds were uncomfortable. One of the shampoo bottles was half drained and had brown goo on the outside. The towels were stained, I took photos as proof. I asked about the gift basket on our second day of stay and the lady hemmed and hawed and said "they" deliver it in the afternoon that day. I told her we were leaving that day and she didn't ask why we were cutting our stay short. When asked over the phone, the owner told me there was free wi-fi. When we got there, we found out it was only available on the first floor and we were staying on the third floor. The breakfast was pancakes or crepes with fried slice of ham. They also offered pastries and fresh fruit with bottled juices and coffee. We were disappointed enough that even though we'd paid for 2 nights, we left after the first night. Also didn't help that the lady at breakfast made disparaging remarks about our son being on his iPad. She has no clue whether we let him use that thing 24-7 or just that morning so we could have some breakfast in peace. But, she started talking about how it rots their mind and they'd never let their kid do it.

The house and rooms are nice and comfortable, however, the host could be friendlier, she appears to not enjoy doing her job, she appears impatient with people and lacks the kindness we normally experience with B&B managers or owners. The breakfast was very disappointing! It was plain and boring, quite frankly the worse breakfast we've had when staying in a B&B. Pancakes (just plain, nothing special), tasteless coffee (the office-like kind), no choices, we were disappointed! To top it off, the "free wifi" was not available in the carriage house, where several rooms are located and the pool was already closed, even though we visited the B&B in early September and it was hot and humid outside. Bird in Hand is a lovely town with much Amish culture, it's just perfect for tourism but this B&B definitely needs a boost!

My husband and I have stayed at many B&B's over the last 15 years. For paying the price we paid per night ($695.97 for three nights) we should have received the Cadillac of service. There wasn't even free coffee other than the one hour they offered breakfast which is between 8-9 AM (really?? - I'm on vacation, why do I want to be up between 8-9 during my vacation) and don't be late for breakfast - one lady came in late (5 min) and the regular coffee had run out. She asked the owner (husband) for more and he says "breakfast ended at 9 and it's after 9 so there's no more for now" but he did make her a piece of French toast - so nice of him. The rest of the breakfast buffet was mediocre at best. Frozen fruit that was thawed and what tasted like baked goods from the local big box supermarket. I'm in Amish land where you can get some of the best baked goods and we are offered crap from Costco. Our room had two bath towels for two people to shower with and no extra towels in the room, two of the skinniest bars of soap which we had to use at the sink for hand washing and the shower, and one garbage can in the whole room. After the first night, both my husband and I had to wear earplugs because of the busy road this place sits on and the sound of cars and trucks driving by woke us up at 6 am along with the sounds of doors closing constantly as the owners prepared breakfast and/or got their kids off for school. If you wanted a snack, they were offering pudding snack packs, and prepackaged crackers for 50 cents each. There were k cups but no Keurig to put them in and no coffee cups. They offered a corkscrew and no wine glasses. We went and bought our own wine glasses! You never saw the owners other than breakfast really. These people are charging high end rates and offering bottom of the barrel service!!! NEVER again will I stay here and I suggest you don't either!!

We purchased their all inclusive package and we had called two weeks prior to get more information regarding our package. We didn't get a response. Finally we reached someone and she told me to email them because that is how they handle things. I emailed and got a very unprofessional email in return. RUDE. We called the day before we arrived to ask if we could arrange a refund for one day due to the Hurricane Sandy and we were told to arrange that upon arrival with the people in charge of reservations. Once we arrived we mentioned this and the women there told us that her daughter takes care of those things and said we would have to pay in full. She also said that there was no reason to worry since they weren't going to get a drop of rain til Wednesday. It was Saturday when we checked in. (This was only a concern since we have two kids waiting for us at home) Our room was dingy and the bed was super uncomfortable. Once we decided to see the area, locals were telling us why we didn't leave to go home since the area we were in was going to be a part of the eye of the storm. So we emailed the women back and she told us we could have an early check in but that we would be charged a $50 cancellation fee and that we would only receive a gift card for a one night stay. The point of all this is that these people are obviously only concerned in getting paid and have no customer service what so ever. Do not come to this bed and breakfast.

Lovely, enormous room. Friendly owners, great breakfast, cheap off season packages. Couldn't have been better!
